Elite Squad 6, Scorpions Team Easton 4
Elite Squad got off to a quick start and held on late to defeat Scorpions Team Easton, 6-4, on Thursday at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, North Carolina.
Elite Squad got on the board in the first inning after a wild pitch from Team Easton. Francis Garcia hit a two-RBI double that plated to extend the lead before Elite Squad scored on an error by the Scorpions to give them the 4-0 advantage.
Elite Squad's pitching held Scorpions Team Easton scoreless until the fourth inning when Ethan Miles Young scored on a fielder's choice. Elite Squad gave themselves a cushion in the top of the fifth when Lorenzo Laurel hit a two-RBI inside-the-park home run to make the score 6-1.
Scorpions Team Easton refused to give up, as they scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth, but that would be all as they fell 6-4.
San Diego Show 6, Canes Baseball 5
San Diego Show and Canes Baseball were locked in back and forth contest with San Diego Show coming out on top 6-5 on Thursday at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, North Carolina.
Canes Baseball struck first when William Radford singled to right field, bringing home Colton Hilbert. San Diego Show answered quickly in the bottom of the inning with an RBI-double from Brenden Lewis tying up the game at one.
Canes Baseball added another run in the top of the second and San Diego Show responded with two runs thanks to RBI-singles from Kayden Henson and Clark. In the top of the third, Canes Baseball's Nolan Winfield grounded into a fielder's choice, plating Sawyer Cannon to tie the game at three.
The San Diego Show's offense took the lead in the home half of the third, scoring three runs. Canes Baseball countered with two runs in the top of the fifth, but could not bring home the tying run to give The San Diego Show a win.
Total Baseball Dirty South Bats 9, SBA Futures 0
Tyler Young threw a complete game shutout to give Total Baseball Dirty South Bats a 9-0 win over SBA Futures on Thursday at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, North Carolina.
Total Baseball Dirty South Bats jumped out to an early lead after taking advantage of an SBA Futures to take the 1-0 lead. Total Baseball DSB went on to score eight runs in the top of the fifth inning, to earn a win in their first game of the 2019 Futures Invitational. The offensive attack was led by four different batters who each recorded RBI-singles and a two-RBI double from Matthew Manzo.
Banditos Black 5, Traction Canes 3
Banditos Black used a pair of big innings to complete a comeback win over Traction Canes, 5-3, on the first day of the Futures Invitational at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, North Carolina.
The Traction Canes took the lead in the bottom of the first after scoring on a wild pitch. The score remained 1-0 until the top of the fifth as both pitching staffs threw three scoreless innings. The Banditos' Jacob Delgadillo tied the game up at one with an RBI-triple before who Marcus Cantu brought Delgadillo home with a single through the right side.
The Banditos Black added three more runs in the top of the seventh to extend their lead, 5-1. Traction Canes rallied in the bottom of the seventh, bringing two home, but would ultimately fall, 5-3.
Top Tier Americans 5, Wilson Sandlot 2
Top Tier Americans jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as it defeated Wilson Sandlot 5-2 on Thursday at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, North Carolina.
Christopher Sampson paced the offense with an RBI-triple to start things for Top Tier Americans before a dropped third strike on the next batter resulted in a Luis Mejia crossing the plate to make the score 2-0.
Top Tier Americans added another run in the top of the third, after Sampson hit an RBI-single to right field, bringing home Connor Russell. Top Tier added two more runs in the top of the sixth thanks to a pair of walks.
Wilson Sandlot scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth on a fielder's choice and a single before retiring the side. The game was called in the seventh due to storms in the area as Top Tier Americans earned the 5-2 win.
MVP Hustle 6, Twelve Baseball 4
MVP Hustle began their title defense with a 6-4 win over Twelve Baseball on Thursday at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, North Carolina.
Brayden Gutierrez got MVP Hustle on the board first with an RBI-single to left field that brought home Gavin Fien. Hamilton Friedberg extended the lead with an RBI of his own in the bottom of the third.
MVP Hustle's offense went on a timely run in the bottom of the sixth, scoring four runs. Twelve Baseball looked to rally late in the game by scoring four runs of their own in the top of the seventh, but MVP Hustle was able to end the game before any more damage was done.
FCA Blueclaws 12, Stars Baseball Camp 6
The FCA Blueclaws earned a 12-6 win over Stars Baseball Camp on opening day of the 11U Futures Invitational in a high-scoring contest on Thursday at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, North Carolina.
Stars Baseball Camp jumped on the board first after driving in two runs in the first inning. They added a third run with an RBI-single from Garrett Camp in the second inning to increase their lead, 3-0.
FCA Blueclaws cut the lead to one in the bottom of the second after scored two runs on a single and a sacrifice bunt. Stars Baseball extended the lead thanks to a double in the top of the third before FCA Blueclaws tied the game with a two-RBI single to the shortstop.
The back-and-forth affair continued in the top of the sixth as the Stars Baseball Camp used a triple and a single to score a pair of runs and take the 6-4 lead. The Blueclaws rallied in a big way in the home half of the sixth as the first 10 batters reached base to score eight runs. The game was called in the bottom of the sixth due to inclement weather as the FCA Blueclaws took home the win.
Both teams recorded a total of 21 hits in the game as FCA Baseball accounted for 12 hits and Stars Baseball Camp earned nine.
