PEORIA - Day one of the 14U National Team Championships opened up on a high note, as David Laranjo and Ryan Featherston have been named Player and Pitcher of the Day, respectively, for their performances today.
Mamba Sports Academy's Laranjo had a big day at the plate for his team, notching four hits in four plate appearances this morning. Laranjo had two stolen bases, one double and three singles, knocking in three RBI and also scoring one run in his team's opening game. Mamba opened up the morning with a 9-6 win over OC Premier.
Featherston of Tri County Baseball Club 14 dazzled on the mound today, tossing five innings while keeping West Coast Baseball completely off the board. Featherston isn't give up a single run or hit in the effort. He also struck out seven while walking one in Try County's 6-4 defeat of West Coast.
