Dobbs Shuts Out 14U in 5 Star National Showdown

West Palm Beach, Fla. - 5 Star National Dobbs used a three-hit shutout performance from their pitching staff to top 5 Star National 14U, 4-0, at FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in Saturday's Game of the Day.
Dobbs struck first in the bottom of the fourth after Gage Harrelson hit a single, then advanced to second and stole third before Cole Mathis hit an RBI-single to the shortstop to put the Dobbs up 1-0.
Dobbs extended the lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning after plating three more runs. A combination of a hit, two walks and an error allowed Tag Williams, Drew Nelson and Parker McDonald to score.
Mathis and Patric Menk worked to keep 14U off the board, throwing 3.0 and 4.0 innings, respectively. Mathis struck out four while allowing just one hit before in his three innings of work. Menk also punched out four batters in his four innings of relief.
Mathis (1-0) earned the win for his performance on the mound, while 5 Star National 14U's Jackson McKenzie (0-1) suffered the loss after allowing a run in 3.1 innings.
Harrelson led Dobbs at the plate after recording a hit, an RBI and scored a run. Carlos Elian Martinez, Conner Crisp and Preston Murphy recorded a hit apiece to lead 15 Star National 14U.
5 Star National Dobbs improved to 1-0 at the National Team Championships in Florida with the win, while 5 Star National 14U fell to 0-1.
