The USA Baseball 12U National Open will host a collection of youth talent from around the country taking the next step in their quest to play for the USA Baseball 12U National Team. These aspiring athletes will have the unique opportunity to showcase their talents on a national stage in front of USA Baseball national team coaches and staff. The Open will include four games along with skill testing and athletic evaluations as part of the official selection process for the 2018 12U National Team. In addition to games and evaluations, players will receive an exclusive opportunity to interact and receive instruction from USA Baseball national team coaches. At the conclusion of the National Open, a minimum of 15 players will be selected to participate in the 2018 12U National Team Trials.
12U National Team Program Selection:
Players will be competing for the opportunity to be named to the 12U National Team Trials. The selections to the 12U National Team Trials will be announced following the last game on July 25th.

General Ticket Info: There will be no tickets for the National Open. All games and trainings will be open to spectators.
Gates will open one hour prior to the first scheduled game time on any given day.
A team photo and action shots will be taken throughout the event. All photos taken by USA Baseball will be available on USABaseballPhotos.com following the conclusion of the event.

Cameras & Video Equipment:
USA Baseball has adopted the following policy regarding camera lenses (including telephoto and zoom lenses) for any of the organization's events. Spectators are not permitted to bring telephoto or zoom camera lenses into the facility. Cameras may be brought in to the facility so long as they are not accompanied by these types of lenses. Only USA Baseball personnel and credentialed members of the media are permitted to have possession of telephoto and zoom lenses. This policy is in place to ensure that all of our players, coaches and fans have a positive experience at our events.

• This facility is located at the back of an RV park. There will be signage all along the park directing you to the facility. The speed limit is 5 mph when driving through the RV residential area.
• There is noise ordinance in affect at the RV park until 8 a.m.

Parking:
Free parking is available in the gravel lot right next to the fields as well as behind the outfield fence. However, park in designated areas only. Non-designated areas will be coned off to signify that they cannot be used. Strictly no parking on the top area adjacent to the batting cages.
Prohibited Actions & Items at VTV Baseball:
The following are prohibited in the facility:
- Acoholic beverages
- Chewing gum
- Metal spikes
- Sunflower seeds with shells
Smoking Policy at the National Training Complex:
VTV Baseball is a smoke-free facility. Smoking is permitted in the parking lot outside of the VTV Baseball gates.
Outside Food and Beverage:
No outside food and beverages will be allowed into the park throughout the 12U National Open. There will be a Snack Shack open throughout the event in order for players to eat.
Foul Balls:
Please be aware of foul balls at all times while at VTV Baseball.
Concessions:
Concessions will be open for the duration of the event at VTV Baseball.

USA Baseball will have a team store that will be open at VTV Baseball during the entire event. All major credit cards are accepted: Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover Card. To shop the complete selection of Team USA merchandise please check out the official online shop.
First-Aid:
A certified athletic trainer will be on-site through the entire event. In case of emergency, the closest hospitals are Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital and Children's Hospital Los Angeles.

Pitch Smart:
Major League Baseball and USA Baseball have teamed up to help young players reduce arm injuries through Pitch Smart, a comprehensive resource for safe pitching practices. Pitch Smart offers a series of practical, age-appropriate guidelines to help players, parents and coaches avoid overuse injuries and foster long, healthy careers. The guidelines were developed throughout the 2014 regular season, as MLB and USA Baseball collaboratively sought to pool the recommendations of many leading medical authorities in the sport in conjunction with baseball officials. The program was formally launched in late 2014.
PitchSmart.org serves as the program's online home and is accessible via MLB.com and USABaseball.com. The site offers pitch count and rest recommendations, statistics on Tommy John surgery, risk factors, awareness tips, published research and videos from experts, including Dr. James Andrews and USA Baseball's medical safety committee chairman, Dr. Glenn Fleisig. USA Baseball, the national governing body for amateur baseball, is fully compliant with the Pitch Smart program and will use PitchSmart.org as a major resource to educate the amateur baseball community on pitcher safety. USA Baseball Online Education Center:
As the national governing body for baseball in the United States, USA Baseball provides educational resources to all constituents within the game. The USA Baseball Online Education Center emphasizes a culture of development, safety and fun within the sport through online training courses and programs focused for players, parents, coaches, and umpires. Play Sun Smart:
Play Sun Smart is a joint skin cancer initiative by Major League Baseball, the Major League Baseball Players Association and the American Academy of Dermatology, and is supported by USA Baseball. The program aims to raise awareness of skin cancer and offer prevention and detection tips to the baseball community. Since 1999, the American Academy of Dermatology has conducted nearly 39,000 screenings through the Play Sun Smart program. More than 1,300 suspicious spots have been detected, including 168 melanomas through these screenings.
The USA Baseball Online Education Center also provides a free course on the Play Sun Smart program, hosted by team dermatologist for the New York Yankees, Dr. Darrell Rigel. The course can be found at USABaseball.Education.
Additional Coach Education Resources:
The USA Baseball Mobile Coach application, which is free to all users, features the ability for baseball coaches at all levels to plan practices using drills supplied in the application through the practice planning function. The application is available through the Apple and Android application stores, as well as online at USABaseball.Education.
USA Baseball, with support from Major League Baseball (MLB), has generated a Long-Term Athlete Development Plan (LTAD) to provide a multi-stage developmental pathway for an individual's life-long experience within the sport of baseball in the United States. The LTAD can be found at USABaseball.Education.
Baseball ACE is an educational program for any and all individuals who are currently coaching baseball or aspire to coach at any level of the game. The program, offered in partnership by USA Baseball and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) aims to create a higher standard of coaching education and enhance the ability of coaches to better serve their athletes, their team and the communities. Baseball ACE is for all members of the baseball coaching community, regardless of age, level, or experience and can be accessed at USABaseball.Education.
In partnership with the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), USA Baseball developed "Coaching Baseball" as another educational resource for baseball coaches. The course is available online through the NFHS platform at www.nfhslearn.com and is a great resource for coaches to improve their skills. In addition to "Coaching Baseball," USA Baseball would also like to recommend several other NFHS resources for coaches and fans. "Heat Illness Prevention", "Creating a Safe and Respectful Environment", "Positive Sports Parenting" and "Sportsmanship" are courses that can assist in creating a positive environment for your team at USA Baseball events and beyond. SafeSport:
In 2010, the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) convened the Working Group for Safe Training Environments and charged it with the task of developing a set of recommendations concerning misconduct in sport. The diverse group included individuals from the Olympic family as well as outside experts. The SafeSport program is the culmination of the sustained work on the part of these passionate individuals, addressing misconduct in sport by providing information, training, and resources, while focusing on four primary objectives:
- Addressing sexual and physical misconduct in sport
- Reviewing the guidelines across sports and other related organizations for responding to these issues
- Assessing the needs of athletes, coaches, staff, National Governing Bodies (NGBs), clubs and other sport organizations
- Developing a set of recommendations to promote athlete well-being
The resources of the USOC have been made available to our sport, and as such USA Baseball is committed to providing a safe environment for its members, participants, coaches, officials and volunteers.
