GLENDALE, Ariz.- Behind a magical start from Jordan Kang, Pacific Baseball Academy blanked San Diego Show on Thursday, 6-0, at Dodgers 4 at Camelback Ranch to advance to the Gold Medal Game.
Kang threw a complete game, allowing just five hits and one walk. He also went 1-for-3 at the plate with a double to go along with a pair of walks.
Both offenses were quiet for two innings before PBA plated their first trio of runs in the bottom of the third. Kang opened the inning with his leadoff double before Show starter Victor Lizarraga walked the next batter. A sacrifice bunt by Joe Grode advanced the runners, and a Sam Biller sacrifice fly scored the first run.
Max Muncy doubled to score the second run of the inning. A wild pitch by Lizarraga scored the third and final run of the frame, putting PBA up three.
Show put some traffic on the bases in the fifth after Kang walked Ray Cebulski. A fielder's choice advanced Cebulski to second before Shon Sakaino singled to move him to third. No damage was done, however, as Kang got Lizarraga to pop out to end the threat.
PBA would put three more runs on the board in the sixth after Biller started the inning with a double, then advanced to third on a sacrifice by George Cooper, who reached safely. Muncy singled the runs home before scoring on an Eric Silva single.
PBA remains undefeated at 8-0 and will battle NCTB Prime at 10:00 a.m. on Friday for the 15U Championship.
