Kangaroo Court 1, Chino Hills Thunder 3
Chino Hills Thunder used a three-run fourth inning to defeat Kangaroo Court, 3-1, on the final day of the 2019 10U Futures Invitational at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, N.C.
Kangaroo Court jumped out to an early lead in the top of the second as Tyson Lake hit an RBI-single through the right side. The Chino Hills Thunder responded in the bottom of the fourth as Ace Tovares tied the game with an RBI-groundout. Dylan Seward gave the Chino Hills Thunder the lead on an RBI-single, before he stole second and third on back-to-back pitches. Seward stole home on the next pitch to give his team the 3-1 victory.
Brock Hickey (1-0) struck out five and allowed just one run in four innings to earn the win on the mound for Chino Hills Thunder, while Payne Cearnal (0-1) suffered the loss for Kangaroo Court.
Chino Hills Thunder wrapped up the tournament with a 3-2 record, while Kangaroo Court dropped to 2-3.
Parker Jets 15, Dream Chasers 5
The Parker Jets closed the 2019 10U Futures Invitational with a strong offensive showing to top the Dream Chasers, 15-5, on Sunday at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, N.C.
The Parker Jets took an early lead and never looked back after scoring a pair of runs on a RBI-single from Travis Varela and an RBI-walk from Will Hayes to take a 2-0 lead. The Parker Jets kept the bats hot in second and third innings to take a commanding 7-0 lead. The Dream Chasers cut into the deficit in the fourth run on an RBI-single, before adding three more runs in the home half of the fifth and a run in the sixth. The five runs weren't enough, however, as the Parker Jets added three runs in the fifth inning and five runs in the sixth to earn the 15-5 win.
Gavin LeMonds (1-0) earned the win for the Parker Jets after striking out four and allowing just on run in four innings on the mound. Shea Corona (0-1) was tagged with the loss for the Dream Chasers.
The Parker Jets finished the 2019 10U Futures Invitational with a 1-3-1 record, while the Dream Chasers dropped to 1-4.
Hooks Baseball 6, Nationals Showcase 7
Down to its last three outs, Nationals Showcase used a three-run sixth inning to complete a come-from-behind victory over Hooks Baseball, 7-6, on Sunday at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, N.C.
Nationals Showcase jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the second after scoring two runs on a pair of RBI-singles from Cameron Layfield and Nicky Bruno. Hooks Baseball responded with a four-run third inning, highlighted by an RBI-triple from Dax Pharris. Hooks Baseball extended the lead to 5-2 in the top of the fourth as Hudson Griffin hit a single through the left side to plate Jacob Lessman. The two teams traded runs in their next two at-bats, giving Hooks Baseball a 6-4 lead heading into the final half inning. Nationals Showcase used two walks and a single to load the bases, before Nelson Whit Davis hit a single to bring home Maddux Lessard. Tai Jones tied the game on the next pitch, crossing home on a passed ball. With the still bases loaded, Dylan Honore drew a walk to give Nationals Showcase the 7-6 win.
Tai Jones (1-0) earned the win for the Nationals Showcase, while Hudson Griffin (0-1) suffered the loss for Hooks Baseball.
Nationals Showcase completed the 2019 10U Futures Invitational with a 1-3-1, while the Hooks Baseball dropped to 0-5.
SBA Nationals 5, Braves Baseball Academy 3
Extra innings were needed to decide the winner of the SBA Nationals and Braves Baseball Academy on the final day of the 2019 10U Futures Invitational as SBA Nationals scored two in the top of the seventh to earn the 5-3 win.
Braves Baseball Academy jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first thanks to an RBI-single by Lukus Perez. SBA Nationals tied the game in the top of the second with a double by Troy Alderfer that plated Ivan Andino. The scoring continued in the top of the third for the SBA Nationals as Chase Khanolkar hit a two-RBI double to take a 3-1 lead. Braves Baseball Academy plated a run in the fourth on a sacrifice bunt by Anthony Valdez, before tying the game in the bottom of the sixth thanks to another RBI-single from Perez.
With runners on first and second to begin the seventh inning due to the international tie-breaker, Andino led off the inning with an RBI-double and Hudson Simmons brought home a run with a single to give SBA Nationals the 5-3 lead.
Derek Vasquez (1-0) earned the win in relief for SBA Nationals after holding the Braves Baseball Academy scoreless in the final two innings while allowing just one hit. Thomas Glenn (0-1) was given the loss for Braves Baseball Academy after giving up the final two runs of the game.
Both teams concluded the 2019 10U Futures Invitational with a 3-2 record.
Stars Baseball Colangelo 4, Pacific Baseball Academy 0
Star Baseball Colangelo's starting pitcher Alexander Quigley-Skillin hurled five scoreless innings and Teagan Leach drove in three runs at the plate to defeat Pacific Baseball Academy, 4-0, on Sunday at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, N.C.
Stars Baseball Colangelo scored all four of its runs in the first two innings as Chase Colangelo opened scoring with an RBI-single to the left side in the top of the first. After Stars Baseball Colangelo loaded the bases with one out in the top of the second on two singles and a walk, Leach capped off the scoring with a three-RBI triple to deep right field to give Stars Baseball Colangelo a 4-0 win.
Quigley-Skillin (1-0) earned the win on the mound after pitching five scoreless innings while allowing just three hits and striking out three. Jet Adams (1-1) suffered the loss for the Pacific Baseball Academy after giving up three runs in 1.2 innings on the mound.
Both teams concluded the 2019 10U Futures Invitational with a 3-2 record.
New Level Nationals 8, San Diego Show 0
Dylan Kelilholokai pitched a complete game-shutout for New Level Nationals and its offense scored eight runs in the sixth inning to defeat the San Diego Show, 8-0, on the final day of the 2019 Futures Invitational.
With the game locked in a scoreless tie through the first five innings thanks to solid performances on the mound from both teams, New Level Nationals broke through to score eight runs in the top of the sixth inning the earn the win. Maxwell Hemenway and Travis Fiedler led off the inning with a single and walk, respectively, before Carson Culvo broke deadlock with an RBI-double to plate Hemenway. Fiedler scored on a wild pitch two batters later, as the New Level Nationals used a two-RBI double, a triple and a passed ball to bring home the final five runs of the game.
Keliiholokai (1-0) earned the win for New Level Nationals after pitching a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits and striking out 10. Cristiaan Micah Gonzalez (0-1) was tagged with the loss for the San Diego Show.
Both teams concluded the 2019 10U Futures Invitational with a 3-2 record.
