Day Two Recap of the 11U Futures Invitational

The semi-final games will be on Saturday, July 1 at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Cary, N.C. - Day two of the USA Baseball 11U Futures Invitational kicked off at 8 a.m. on Friday, June 30 at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, N.C.
After eight games Friday, and 24 games total, the San Diego Show, Top Tier Americans and Wilson Sandlot are sitting at a 3-0-0 after day two of pool play.
Day three will start off at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 1 with a consolation matchup and first semi-finals action between Mid-Atlantic Royals and Top Tier Americans. The second semi-final game will begin at 11 a.m. between Wilson Sandlot and San Diego Show.
Game 17: 3D Gold 16, NY Phenoms 1

Ten players for 3D Gold (2-1-0) combined for their 15 hits to complete a 16-1 win over the NY Phenoms (0-3-0). Gold scored runs in all five innings led by Carson Tinney who went 3-for-4 with one RBI and two runs. They also got a strong performance from Eddie Peters on the mound as he threw four innings, striking out three and allowing only one earned run. Denali Rivera went 1-for-2 with a RBI for the Phenoms.
Game 18: Top Tier Americans 7, Austin Crawdads 0

Ralphy Velazquez threw a strong five shutout innings on the mound leading the Top Tier Americans (3-0-0) to a 7-0 win over the Austin Crawdads (1-2-0). Velazquez finished with six strikeouts, no earned runs and only one walk. Kai Caranto and Daniel Arambula both had three hits for Top Tier to lead the way offensively. Caranto is now 8-for-11 with nine RBI in the tournament while hitting out of the leadoff spot. The Austin Crawdads leadoff hitter Theodore Gillen went 1-for-2 with a walk.
Game 19: Team Florida 11, CBA 1

Seven players combined for Team Florida's 10 hits as they went on to beat CBA 11-1 in six innings. Florida was led by Joshua Castellani who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. They also saw a strong performance from Caleb Mility who went 2-for-3 and also tallied three RBI. Nic Randall went five innings, allowing no earned runs and striking out two to claim the win for Florida. For CBA, they got a strong 1-for-2 performance from leadoff hitter Ian Smith.
Game 20: Wilson Sandlot 13, Piranhas Baseball 10

This game featured 33 combined hits with Wilson Sandlot having multi-hit games from six players. They were led overall by Connor Boyd who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and Cayne Killion who went 3-for-4 with five RBI. The Piranhas had seven players with multi-hit games and were led by Omar Martinez who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Logan Cheek who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. The winning pitcher for Wilson Sandlot was Connor Bigelow.
Game 21: Mid-Atlantic 12, TBSA Patriots 5

Danny Torres went 2-for-3 with four RBI while JP Podgorski went 3-for-4 with three RBI leading the Mid-Atlantic to a 12-5 victory over the TBSA Patriots. Torres also threw 5.1 innings on the mound striking out four and getting the win despite surrendering five walks. For TBSA, they got offensive output from Dominic Cosenza who finished 2-for-4 with one RBI and Domenic Fernandez who went 1-for-4 with two runs scored.
Game 22: Midwest Select 10, Team California 2

The Midwest select finished with 19 totals hits led by a 4-for-5, one RBI performance from Mateo Rascon. Blake Larson also had a good day at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two RBI. Rascon also led the way on the mound by throwing 6.2 innings with six strikeouts and only two earned runs. The Select scored runs in all but two innings and held Team California scoreless until the sixth. California was led by Parker Sobiesiak on a 1-for-3 performance that resulted in one RBI and a run scored.
Game 23: San Diego Show 5, LV Rebels 2

Both starting pitchers in this game started off throwing strong innings for their teams. San Diego Show's Dylan Fien pitched five innings, striking out five and walking none. For the LV Rebels, Tate Southisene threw 3.1 innings with a strikeout and no earned runs. Jose Mendoza went 2-for-3 with an RBI to help lead the San Diego Show to a 5-2 victory over the LV Rebels. The rebels saw hits from seven different players and most notably a 2-for-2, one RBI day for Alexander Mercurius.
Game 24: West Florida Hammerheads 11, Midland Seminoles 1

The final game of the day saw the West Florida Hammerheads strike for seven runs in the first and winning 11-1 after five. Ethan Suroweic went 2-for-2 with a two RBI double in the first inning and Chris Newstrom went 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the way for the Hammerheads. Newstrom also got the win on the mound throwing a complete game, while allowing one earned run and striking out two. Anthony Sedman led Midland, going 1-for-2 with a run scored.
