PHOENIX — Nine players recorded at least one hit apiece as So Cal Birds White soared to a 13-1 win in its tournament opener against Jack 9 Baseball at the 15U National Team Championships Arizona.
So Cal Birds White jumped on the board early and often and tallied 11 runs through the first two innings. A triple, RBI-groundout and four consecutive singles quickly made it a 4-0 game, and Jackson Haney's run-scoring double sparked a six-run second frame for the Birds.
Haney, Luke Weston and Luke Wilson all delivered multi-hit performances for So Cal Birds White in the win. Wilson, who reached base three times, including a triple, also stole a pair of bases.
The 13-hit attack backed a strong outing from right-hander Luke Wobrock, who scattered three hits across four innings of work and allowed just one run courtesy of an RBI-triple off the bat of Jack 9 Baseball's Austin Demello in the third.
Paxton Moore contributed 1.1 scoreless innings of relief work for Jack 9 Baseball before the run rule was instituted.
