PEORIA, Ariz - A late inning lead change helped NorCal Baseball 2022 Blue defeat CBA Warhawks, 6-2, Monday morning on Mariners 4 at the Peoria Sports Complex in Peoria, Arizona.
CBA crossed home first in the bottom of the third when Mason Montes hit a ground ball single to right and a fielding error allowed him to score. The team made another scoring attempt in the fourth, getting two runners on base, but a fly out to right ended the effort.
Six NorCal athletes collected hits in the fifth inning when the team took a 5-1 lead over CBA. Toran O'Harran, Chase Ingram, JR Ritchie and Brandon Forrester singled while Caden Thompson and Raoul Fabian each hit doubles to left in the scoring frenzy.
In the bottom of the sixth, CBA made a last ditch effort to comeback when Connor Abadie scored on a fielder's choice after reaching on a single to right. NorCal scored one more time before the game was over. Fabian sent a double to left and pushed Forrester across the plate as the final run of the ball game.
O'Harran, Brent Jones and Corbin Ybarra threw for NorCal in the Monday matchup. The trio combined for six hits, two runs, one walk, and six strikeouts. Jones collected the win for his team.
Both NorCal (3-0) and CBA (2-1) await seeding for Tuesday's final round of pool play action in the 15U tournament at the National Team Championships.
