CARY, N.C. - Eagles opened up the 2019 USA Baseball 15U National Team Trials Phase I on Friday with a 7-5 victory over Pride at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina.
Pride were first to score on the afternoon, jumping out to a 1-0 lead as Drew Burress hit an RBI single to drive in Karson Bowen in the second, but Eagles would go on to score two of their own in the fourth to take the 2-1 lead. They scored in each of the final four innings of the game, including posting three runs in the sixth, to secure the victory.
The Eagles accumulated 10 hits in the contest, four of which came from Ty Southisene and Dylan Lina. The duo combined to go 4-for-6 with two runs and two RBIs.
Walter Ford shined on the mound for Pride, tossing three scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out one. He did not factor into the decision. Ethan McElvain (1-0) earned the win after throwing three innings, allowing two runs and striking out four, while Jaxon Pastore (0-1) was the losing pitcher.
Down by five in the seventh inning, Pride began to rally as Matthew Matthijs and Gavin Grahovac contributed with RBI singles to cut the deficit to 7-5, but the rally would stop there and Eagles would go on to secure the 7-5 victory.

Key Moments:
• Pride struck first as Drew Burress singled to left to bring in Karson Bowen and put Pride out to the early 1-0 lead in the second.

• Termarr Johnson hit a groundball to drive in Gavin Grahovac and tie the game at two in the bottom of the fourth.
• Ty Southisene hit an RBI triple to straight away center field in the fifth, driving in Brady Reynolds and putting Eagles up 3-2.
• Austen Rolleig and Dylan Lina tripled in the sixth to aid in what amounted to a three-run inning for Eagles, giving them the 6-2 edge.
• Down by five, Pride began to rally in the bottom of the seventh as both Matthew Matthijs and Grahovac contributed with RBI singles to bring the game to 7-5, but the rally would stop there and Eagles would go on to win by that score.

CARY, N.C. - Brave defeated United 4-2 in the second game of the 15U National Team Trials on Friday afternoon at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina.
Brave wasted no time getting on the board as Jameson Caro doubled to right in the bottom of the first to drive in Mikey Romero and give Brave the early 1-0 lead. They extended their lead the next inning courtesy of a Mason Balsis RBI single, and were out to an early 2-0 advantage.
Six players delivered hits for the Brave team, including Jaxon Willits, who had the only multi-hit performance of the contest. Willits went 2-for-3 at the plate, including an RBI double. In total, Brave scored in four of the seven innings.
On the mound, the trio of Logan Saloman, Diego Zuniga, and Trenton Shaw held the United lineup to just three hits and two runs. Shaw was effective out of the bullpen, tossing three innings of no-hit baseball and allowing just one run on five walks. He struck out four and recorded the save to secure the victory for Brave. Saloman (1-0) was the winning pitcher of record while Julian Orozco (0-1) got the loss.

• United took advantage of a throwing error by Brave in the sixth as Colton Emerson came around to score to cut into the Brave lead and make it a 4-2 game.
