Stars Even Series, 2-2, on Last Day of Training Camp with 6-0 Victory Over Stripes

The Stars evened up the series and downed the Stripes, 6-0, capping off the 12U National Team Training Camp and the Stars vs. Stripes series on Friday morning at Thomas Brooks Park.

Stars’ Justin Lloyd started the scoring affair early after reaching the bags on a two-base knock, later finding his way home on an errant pitch to put his squad up one after the first inning.

The Stars’ defense held strong in the top of the second, keeping the Stripes off of the board and allowing their offense to play comfortably heading into the bottom of the inning. Lloyd took advantage of the lead and launched a two-RBI single to center field, increasing the lead to three runs.

Stars’ pitchers remained consistent on the mound in the top of the third, forcing two groundouts and tallying a strikeout on the first three batters of the inning.

In response to his defense playing lights out, Stars’ Allen Yoo plated a run in the bottom of the third frame, pushing the lead to four.

McCants showed that he could perform on both sides of the ball when he smacked a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Mason Ruvalcaba to tag up and score to push the lead to 5-0 in the bottom of the fourth.

The Stars put the game out of reach in the sixth inning by adding another run thanks to the bat of Noah Henderson, enabling the Stars to secure a 6-0 victory.
