Team Grey’s Six-Run Outburst in Eighth Inning Leads to Convincing 10-6 Win Over Team Navy

The Team Grey trio of Quentin Young, Gavin Fein, and Anthony Pack contributed to a late six-run scoring affair in the eighth frame to down Team Navy 10-6 on the fourth day of the 18U National Team Training Camp.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Team Navy started off the game with a bang by notching three early runs in the bottom of the first frame thanks to a bases-loaded walk and a Hagen Wright two-RBI single.
  • Grey responded with a run of its own as Ty Peeples found his way home via a bases-loaded wild pitch, moving the score to 3-1 to round out the second inning.
  • In the fifth inning, Grey’s Gavin Fein blasted a double to left field to drive in two runs and lock the game at three runs each.
  • Nico Partida put Team Grey on top, 4-3, with a hard-hit single to left field in the top of the seventh frame.
  • In response, with two runners in scoring position, Dean Moss cranked a homer that traveled 395 feet to put Navy up 6-4 headed into the eighth inning.
  • Grey’s Landon Schaefer took advantage of a wild pitch, making his way across the plate to cut the deficit to one run.

Team Red Nabs 8-5 Win Over Light Blue After Four-Run Outburst in Fifth Frame

Team Red rattled off four runs in the fifth inning to register a convincing 8-5 over Team Light Blue, sparked by a Brayden Jaksa RBI double and Josh Owens RBI triple.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Slater De Brun demonstrated his speed on the base path, advancing to third and sneaking home on a wild pitch to put Team Red up 1-0 early.
  • Team Red kept its foot on the gas and added three more runs to its total courtesy of a Jaden Fauske double and an Eli Willits single.
  • Charlie Buckles put Team Light Blue on the board with a double to left center field in the top of the fourth inning, moving the score to 4-1 in favor of Red.
  • Coy James extended Red’s lead to four runs, delivering a single to allow De Brun to cross the plate for a second time in the contest.
  • Jaksa and Owens continued Red’s rally in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI double and triple, respectively, to give their crew an 8-1 advantage.
  • Team Light Blue rattled off three runs in the top of the sixth frame, seeing Conor Essenburg crank a two-RBI double and Sean Gamble reach home on a fielding error which would cut the deficit to four runs.
  • Brady Ebel pushed a run across the plate with a double to right field, pushing the score to 8-5.

  • Miguel Sime Jr. tossed two innings of scoreless, no-hit baseball for Team Red while tallying five strikeouts in the process.
  • Opposing Sime Jr., Light Blue’s Jordan Martin hurled two scoreless innings of his own and added three punchouts.
  • Owens (Red) and Essenburg (Light Blue) tied for a game-best two RBIs.
