PEORIA, Ariz.- NCTB Prime utilized an all-out offensive attack to down DeMarini Bulldogs in four innings, 11-0, at Mariners 3 at the Peoria Sports Complex on Sunday.
Led by Brewster Mott, NCTB scored six runs in the first three innings, putting them out to a comfortable lead early. Mott totaled two hits to go along with three RBI.
The bats got going early, with NCTB scoring four runs in the first on back-to-back doubles by Cody Schrier and David Shackelford. Shackelford then scored on a single by Vytas Valincius, followed by a Tommy Dilandri single. Mott then drove in the pair on a triple to deep left.
NCTB starter Kyle Bender was able to keep the Bulldog bats quiet through the following two innings, save for a Robert Corona single up the middle in the second.
Stefan Foley added to the NCTB lead with an RBI-double in the third, followed by another Mott RBI to score him.
In the top of the fourth, the Bulldogs put two on after a hit by pitch and a walk, allowing Schrier to single and drive in one. Jaron Nevarez then entered, singled to right and scored Schrier. Dilandri then tripled to drive home runs nine and ten, putting the run rule into effect. He scored on a wild pitch to plate the 11th run.
After Bender hit a batter to open the bottom of the inning, Shackelford took the mound to seal the game, throwing 0.2 innings, striking out one. He did allow a run to cross, which was charged to Bender.
NCTB improves to 2-0 on the tournament, while the Bulldogs fall to 1-1. Both teams are back in action this afternoon.
