Round of 16

Legacy Baseball Black started the Round of 16 with a 6-1 upset victory over Prime Red, the tournament’s then-favorite after holding it to just one run on three hits. After taking a 5-0 lead after a four-run fifth, Legacy hung on for the upset. Alpha Force and TB SoCal were caught in a tight game on the next field over, with TB SoCal winning it 6-5 by mounting a comeback after finding itself in a 4-0 hole.

The Long Beach Bears also found themselves down in their Round of 16 tilt, but responded to a 3-0 deficit with a 7-0 run over the next two frames against Top Tier Dudes. Despite the Dudes plating three in the top of the seventh, the Bears stopped the bleeding just in time to earn a close, 7-6 win. To finish off the round of 16 action in Surprise, Next Level Baseball rocked Bombers Baseball Club in a 14-6 victory. Next Level plated ten by the end of the third, including six in the first frame. Despite Bombers’ strong start, the club couldn’t keep its foot on the gas as it fell into the consolation pool.

At Peoria, Swarm Red Elite downed Team California in an exciting game with a final line of 10-6. Swarm put up nine runs by the fourth frame and even though Team California plated four in the sixth, Swarm held on for the four-run win. 5 Star Arizona edged out a close win over BPA, claiming a 4-3 victory after going back-and-forth with its opponents in an exciting game.

On the other fields at Peoria, Stacked National and Trosky National were locked in an epic shootout, one in which Trosky came out victorious. After ten combined runs between the two sides in the first two innings, Trosky clutched out a tough 10-9 win thanks to two go-ahead, seventh-inning runs. Despite its strong win in the earlier slate, Matadors was taken out by CBA Bulldogs in a 13-4 rout that sent the Bulldogs to the quarterfinals on Sunday.
