Champs Arizona 15U Pool Play Day Two Group One Roundup

Day two of pool play at the 15U National Team Championships in Arizona is only halfway done. With each team at Surprise and Peoria, Arizona, playing a doubleheader, 32 teams have now played their three games of pool play, hoping to move on to bracket play on Saturday.

Surprise, Arizona

To start the action early in the morning at Surprise, Arizona, The Long Beach Bears and Top Tier Dudes each put on a pair of comfortable victories, beating Slammers Hatcher 9-1 and USA Prime Mtn West 6-2, respectively. Meanwhile, Dukes Baseball tied Five Star West 9-9 and Stacked California tied TB SoCal Evoshield 6-6.

BPA, Legacy Baseball Group Black, and EJ Sports Warriors put on a trio of shutouts at the Kansas City Royals’ spring training facility early on. While Legacy beat GBG 10-0 in four dominant frames and the Warriors beat Quakes Baseball Academy 8-0, BPA gutted out a tough 2-0 victory over Trosky National. Pono Baseball beat NorCal 2028 Johnson 13-7 in a high-scoring affair after a combined 11 runs were scored in the first inning.

To start off the late morning’s slate of baseball, Five Star West captured its first win of the day in a 13-3 rout over Slammers Hatcher. The Long Beach Bears defeated Dukes Baseball 8-2 while TB SoCal Evoshield downed USA Prime Mtn West 11-5. However, Top Tier Dudes put up a monstrous 24-5 victory over Stacked California after putting up a stunning 17-run fifth frame.

GBG Navy American took down Pono Baseball in a close 4-2 game on the Royals’ quad. After GBG took a 4-0 lead in the third frame, Pono attempted a comeback, but GBG held its opponents off for long enough for its first win of the day. Meanwhile, Legacy Baseball Black beat NorCal 2028 Johnson 10-4 and BPA earned an exciting 10-7 victory over Quakes Baseball Academy.

Peoria, Arizona

Ghost National tied Prime Navy 6-6 early on in Peoria, Arizona. Alongside them, Canes Inland Empire downed Team Kado Hawaii 6-2 and City Baseball Green beat Legacy Baseball Group 7-3. To finish off action early on at the Seattle Mariners’ spring training facility, Prime Red beat GBG Vegas 9-1 after scoring in all but one of the teams’ six innings of play.

MBA Green beat Bombers Baseball Club of California at the only close game at the San Diego Padres’ spring training facility early in the morning. After a back-and-forth bout, MBA Green eked out an exciting 8-5 victory. The rest of the action at the Padres’ quad included Team Cal Warriors and Stacked National putting on 9-0 and 10-0 shutouts over Swarm Red Elite National and 310 Baseball Team, respectively.

Three shutouts took place at the Mariners’ quad in the late morning: ‘27 Ghost National beat Team Kado Hawaii 8-0, Canes Inland Empire won 5-0 in a battle with Prime Navy, and Prime Red took down Legacy Baseball Group Gold in a dominant 15-0 rout. The final game on the quad in the morning was a 10-9 barnburner between GBG Vegas and City Baseball Green. Both teams went back and forth early on, but City Green eventually walked off GBG Vegas in the bottom of the seventh with a three-run, game-winning rally.

MBA Green and Team Cal Warriors both put on a dominant victory in the latter time slot of the morning’s slate of games. Team Cal shut out PFA National 10-0 and MBA Green beat 310 Baseball Team 12-4. Bombers Baseball Club beat Stacked National 7-4 and Swarm Red Elite National claimed a 7-3 win over West Coast A’s Baseball.
