CARY, N.C. - The 2018 10U Futures Invitational third place game matched up ATP National and Wilson Sandlot on Sunday at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, North Carolina. ATP National came out on top in the contest, 9-4, to claim the bronze medal.
ATP came out swinging early and often, scoring multiple runs in each of the first four innings to take firm control from the start. A two-run inside-the-park home run got the team on the board first in the contest, giving the squad a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first.

It then added two more courtesy of a passed ball and a wild pitch in the next inning to take a strong 4-0 advantage into the third.
Wilson Sandlot broke through in the very next frame, cutting the deficit to just one with one swing. With two outs, S Juvera Jr. reached on a dropped third strike and M Lopez walked to bring up Jet Berry, who ripped a ball to left field for an inside-the-park home run to make it a 4-3 game.
ATP had an answer of its own in the bottom half of the next two innings though. Two consecutive RBI groundouts brought in two runs in the third and three more runs came around to score in the bottom of the fourth, giving ATP National a dominant 9-3 lead heading to the fifth.
In the top of the fifth, Sandlot added one more to get within five but that was all they would get before ATP shut it down to claim the victory and the bronze medal.
Joseph Rodriguez started on the bump for ATP National and struck out nine in just four innings while allowing just one hit and no earned runs.
Branden Carrillo, who finished 2-for-2 with a RBI and a run scored, and James Clark, who collected three hits and two runs scored, led ATP's offense.
Berry set the tone for Wilson Sandlot on the other side, finishing the game 2-for-3 with a run scored and all four of the team's RBI.
