CARY, N.C. - Coming off an impressive 14-0 win in the opening round of the 2018 USA Baseball 14U Cup, Hit N Run continued to show its offensive prowess.
Hit N Run's offense got off to an early start when Donovan Shepherd tagged up following a fly out to left field in the top of the first to give them a 1-0 lead.
Maryland Warriors Prospects were able to put some offense of their own on the board. They evened things up on an error by the Hit N Run third baseman in the bottom of the second, but it was all they could muster.
Hit N Run crossed the plate five times in the top of third. Alec Benigar got things going with a ground ball single, and J. Crabtree followed with a single of his own. In the next at bat, D. Stewart singled, Crabtree stole second, and Benigar scored on a balk.
Hit N Run's offense kept things rolling with a two-out rally in the top of fourth with scores on a wild pitch and Gregory scoring on the throw.
A run in the fifth and two runs in the sixth sealed the deal for Hit N Run before a rain delay was responsible for the early completion of the game.
Hit N Run improved to 2-0 in the tournament, while the Maryland Warriors Prospects dropped to 0-2 following the contest.
