Zoots Baseball Club Claims 17U Gold over CBA Marucci National

A nine run inning led Zoots to a 14-5 victory

PEORIA, Ariz - The first title of the National Team Championships in Arizona was claimed Friday morning by Zoots baseball club as a huge, nine run inning led the team to a 14-5 victory over CBA Marucci National in the 17U championship at the Peoria Sports Complex in Peoria, Arizona. 
Zoots baseball came to play Friday as they jumped out to an early two run lead in the second inning. Back-to-back singles put Nicholas Kresnak and Tommy Splaine on base to score when Jonathan Cymrot doubled on a line drive.
CBA slashed the lead in half in the bottom of the third when Rocco Peppi reached base on a fielder's choice and was pushed across to score on a RBI single off the bat of Zavien Watson.
The Marucci National team nabbed the lead in the next inning, tying the game with a RBI single and taking a two-run lead. Jude Littrell put runners on scoring position with a sac bunt and Jake Vogel tripled to send Trevor Tishenkel and Landon Wallace home. 
From there, it was all Zoots. Back-to-back-back doubles by Gavin Napier, Davis Diaz, and Kresnak put Zoots up 7-5. The team continued to score, ending the top half of the fifth with an 11-5 lead thanks to Vincent Bianchina and Tommy Thrasher who each hit an RBI in the effort. 
Eight Zoots athletes had a hit in the game. Napier (2-for-3), Kresnak (2-for-4), Cymrot (3-for-3) and Wall (2-for-3) all had multi hit games.
Brett Wozniak, Sharp, Rio Britton, and Fisher Pyatt all spent time on the mound for CBA. The squad combined for 13 hits, 14 runs, six walks and three strikeouts. 
Thatcher Hurd collected the win for Zoots on the bump. He gave up five hits and two walks and struck out five batters in the contest.
