Champs Arizona 14U Pool Play Day Two Group One Roundup

The second day of pool play at the 14U National Team Championships in Arizona features all 64 teams playing a doubleheader in hopes of punching their ticket to bracket play on Friday. Without further ado, let’s go over all the headlines from the first group’s round of doubleheaders in Surprise and Peoria, Arizona.

Surprise, Arizona

Play at the Texas Rangers’ spring training facilities began with a pair of two-run wins from Lone Star Brewers - Scout Team and RCB Elite. Lone Star beat Prime Red in a 5-3 final decision while RCB Elite overcame an early 2-0 deficit and beat GBG Utah Navy 4-2. The other two games on the Rangers’ quad included blowout victories from TB SoCal and Saddleback Cowboys Cardinal. TB SoCal put up an eight-run third in a 12-4 win over CBA Bulldogs National and Saddleback romped JGB Rockstars 13-2 in just four innings.

MBA Navy got things started on the Kansas City Royals’ spring training complex with a 13-1 rout over Quakes Baseball Academy thanks to a seven-run sixth frame. Next to MBA, Cali National Baseball Academy also captured a big win, romping GBG Navy 13-3 despite its opponents collecting the same amount of hits as it did at 13. The final two games on the quad were one-run wins, the first of which featured TB Socal Evoshield’s 7-6 win and New Level National’s epic, 5-4 extra-innings win over Canes West.

Lone Star Brewers - Scout Team won its second game of the day in a 16-1 blowout over TB Socal. After a stunning 11-run third frame, Lone Star run-ruled TB after its huge third inning. Both Prime Red and GBG Utah Navy won by double-digits on the Rangers’ quad in the late morning. Prime Red put up all 12 of its runs in the final two innings against CBA Bulldogs in a 12-2 win while GBG Utah Navy ran up the score in its 18-4 win over JGB Rockstars. To wrap up the group, Saddleback plated seven in the fourth to beat RCB Elite 9-1.

MBA Navy earned its second blowout win of the day in a 11-1, double-digits victory over TB SoCal Evoshield. West Coast Red Sox picked up a win in a 7-4 victory over Quakes Baseball Academy while New Level National beat GBG Navy 9-4 on the Royals’ facilities. Finally, Cali National Baseball Academy won by ten in a 13-3 win over Canes West.

Peoria, Arizona

Three lopsided shutouts took place in the early morning at the Seattle Mariners’ spring training complex. CBA Broncos charged in and downed Matadors 8-0, One National beat Trosky Force 10-0 thanks to a three-run third that ended its game after four, and Dukes Baseball beat GBG Navy American 9-0 after only allowing two hits. The only close game on the quad was between Trosky National and Placentia Mustangs. Ultimately, Trosky outlasted the Mustangs in a 7-5 final decision.

Reed Johnson beat AZBC in a dominant 13-2 win after putting up 13 runs in just three innings. 310 Baseball Team edged out Legacy Baseball Group Black in a shootout on the San Diego Padres’ spring training fields. 310 walked Legacy off after plating three in the sixth and final inning of the bout, ultimately winning 9-8. Stacked National and Swarm Red Elite held their respective opponents to one run each in their wins on the quad. Stacked put up six runs each in the second and third frames of its game against GBG Inland Empire for a 13-1 win and Swarm Red Elite beat Next Level Baseball with a clutch, four-run seventh frame.

Late-morning baseball at the Mariners’ quad first featured Trosky National capturing its second win of the day in a 16-0 shutout victory over Matadors in just three innings. CBA Broncos also won the second leg of its doubleheader with a 12-2 win over Placentia Mustangs — nine of the Broncos’ runs came in its fourth and final inning. One National also put on a blowout in an 18-2 rout over GBG Navy American. One National was out to a 14-1 lead after the first two frames, GBG Navy had no chance and suffered its second blowout loss of the day. To finish the group, Trosky Force outlasted Dukes Baseball 3-2 in a close game.

310 Stacked won the second leg of its doubleheader with a 12-7 win against AZBC. Meanwhile, Reed Johnson put on a 9-0 shutout against Legacy Baseball Group thanks to five extra-base hits. Stacked National achieved another lopsided win in an 11-3 victory over Swarm Red Elite National and GBG Inland Empire walked off Next Level Baseball in an entertaining 9-8 shootout at the Padres’ quad.
