Participating Players, Schedule Announced for 2023 MLB Draft Combine at Chase Field in Phoenix

Major League Baseball and USA Baseball today announced the list of participating draft-eligible players, as well as a detailed schedule of events, for the 2023 MLB Draft Combine, which will take place from June 19-24 at Chase Field, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks.  The Combine will feature 274 Draft prospects, including 143 collegiate players and 131 high school athletes, as well as a decorated group of former Major League players and coaches, members of Club baseball operations departments, scouting directors and other Club personnel.  Please see below for a full list of players scheduled to attend the 2023 Draft Combine.

The Combine will provide an opportunity for players to participate in a series of medical and Prospect Development Pipeline (PDP) performance assessments as well as educational programming designed to prepare them for careers in professional baseball. All players will have the opportunity to participate in a pro-style showcase workout, as well as strength and PDP performance assessments.  Additionally, high school players will have the option to participate in games against other high school Combine attendees.

Tuesday, June 20:

  • 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.: On-field workouts
  • 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.: MLB Network Showcase
  • 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.: On-field workouts and batting practice sessions
  • 4:10 p.m. - High School Game

Wednesday, June 21:

  • 11:30 a.m - 12:30 p.m.: On-field workouts
  • 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.: MLB Network Showcase
  • 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.: On-field workouts

Please Note: Media credentials may be picked up at the Media Gate from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday; from 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday; and from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Thursday.

As part of the Combine experience, attendees will benefit from the opportunity to interview and interact directly with Major League Club general managers and scouting directors, as well as an enhanced medical evaluation process.  Participants at the MLB Draft Combine will also have opportunities to be featured on MLB social media channels, in addition to receiving personal branding training and access to real-time content and custom video for their own platforms.

In addition to the Draft prospects, others scheduled to attend include two-time World Series Champion and MLB’s Senior Director of On-Field Operations Gregor Blanco; 2001 All-Star and three-time Gold Glover Mike Cameron; two-time All-Star and three-time Gold Glover Eric Davis; former Major Leaguer and MLB’s Senior Director of On-Field Operations Rajai Davis; former Washington Nationals and Pittsburgh Pirates hitting coach Rick Eckstein; MLB’s Senior Vice President of On-Field Operations Michael Hill; 2009 All-Star and MLB’s Senior Vice President of On-Field Operations Raul Ibañez; former Major Leaguer and MLB’s Senior Director of On-Field Operations Dan Otero; two-time All-Star and 2003 World Series Champion Brad Penny and 2013 World Series Champion Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Former Major Leaguers Luis Alicea, Jeff Reboulet and Michael Tucker will also be on hand during the Draft Combine.

For the third consecutive year, MLB Network will provide extensive coverage of the Draft Combine with two days of on-site programming from Chase Field. Coverage will begin at 1:00 p.m. (ET)/10:00 a.m. (PT) on Tuesday, June 20, and at 3:30 p.m. (ET)/12:30 p.m. (PT) on Wednesday, June 21. MLB Network hosts Greg Amsinger and Siera Santos will be joined by Jim Callis, Sean Casey, Sarah Langs, Dan O’Dowd, Harold Reynolds and Chris Young for analysis and breakdowns as the players participate in batting practice, live mound sessions, and fielding and baserunning drills. New MLB Network contributor Jared Carrabis will be part of the coverage, including interviewing prospects as they undergo their pro-style workouts from the Chase Field pool. Former big leaguers Clay Bellinger, Peter Bourjos, Michael Bourn, Prince Fielder, Mike Hampton, Howie Kendrick, Jed Lowrie and Eric Thames will also be on-hand at Chase Field to provide insight throughout the coverage. As part of the production, a new graphics package will deliver near-instant data on many statistics, including pitching velocity and exit velocity for hitters.  

Gates will be open to fans wishing to attend the The Draft Combine session on Tuesday, June 20, from 9:30 a.m. (PT) – 2:00 p.m. (PT). On Wednesday, June 21, gates will be open to the public from Noon (PT) – 4:30 p.m. (PT).

The 2023 MLB Draft is planned for July 9-11 during All-Star Week in Seattle. The Draft will feature 20 rounds across the three days. The opening night of the Draft, which will feature 70 picks in total, will include the first two rounds, compensatory round(s) and competitive balance rounds at Lumen Field.
