
Major League Baseball and USA Baseball will host a special PLAY BALL event during the MLB Draft Combine this Friday, June 25th, at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C. The free event will feature local youth running through a series of fun-focused, informal baseball- and softball-centered stations, including home run derby, running bases, bat & ball games and more. In addition, each participant will receive a PLAY BALL-branded bat & ball set that can be safely enjoyed at home, neighborhoods and parks as well as t-shirts and wristbands.
Casual participation in baseball continued to see sharp increases growing to nearly 8.1 million participants in 2020, an increase of +22% from 2019. Since 2014, the year prior to the launch of the PLAY BALL initiative, casual participation has grown +88.3%.
