PHOENIX — Thomas Lieb posted five doubles, four RBI and three runs in a pair of wins for Legacy Baseball Group 15U Black to earn Player of the Day honors for July 1 at the 15U National Team Championships Arizona.
Lieb, whose 3-for-4 effort helped Legacy to a 5-0 win against OC Premier Gray in its tournament opener, followed with another impressive performance in an 8-1 win against So Cal Birds Orange. The 5-foot-11 catcher added two more doubles and two RBI in the second game of the afternoon.
Lieb reached base in six of his eight at-bats to begin the tournament.
Legacy Baseball Group 15U Black (2-0) will look to continue its momentum with a 12:30 p.m. MT game against New Level Xtreme Pike (1-0-1) on Friday at Surprise Stadium.
Tristan Bristow delivered a complete-game, one-hit shutout for Banditos Scout Team to capture the Pitcher of the Day honor for July 1 at the 15U National Team Championships Arizona.
Bristow, a 6-foot-3 right-hander, did not allow a base hit until the second batter of the seventh inning. He maintained a solid 68 percent strike rate and struck out four in the 3-0 win against CBA Bulldogs. He used just 75 pitches to finish the complete-game effort.
Bristow helped back his own outing by going 1-for-3 at the plate, as well.
Banditos Scout Team (2-0) is set to face Team Dinger 2024 (1-1) on the second day of competition at the tournament. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. MT at Camelback Ranch.
