Champs Arizona 15U Day One Roundup

The second week of the National Team Championships in Arizona is officially underway. After 17U play wrapped up, the 15U competition has begun in Peoria and Surprise, Arizona.

With teams finished playing their first games of the tournament, let’s go through all the highlights from the first day of pool play. Click here to view scores from each and every day of the tournament.

Surprise, Arizona

Play in Surprise, Arizona, began with four high-flying wins at the Texas Rangers’ spring training facility with a combined 52 runs plated by the winning squads. The CBA Bulldogs defeated Nor Cal U 2027 10-5 behind a 3-for-4, three RBI-day from shortstop Sean Compton. Next Level Baseball put up a dominant, four-inning 16-0 shutout over TPA-Outlaws. 5 Star Arizona beat GBG Navy 12-4 and CBA Victus San Diego routed OC Premier 14-3.

Canes CA and AZBC 2027 Elite were locked in a tight game at the Kansas City Royals’ spring training complex. Canes CA came out on top in an 8-7 victory thanks to a seven-run fifth inning. Trosky Force beat the ZT Renegades 9-3 while Matadors 15U beat Rebels 2027 11-7 after four of its players recorded multi-RBI days. California Bucs finished the early slate of games in Surprise with a close, 4-3 win over The Rock Baseball Club.

To start the afternoon, Slammers Hatcher defeated Dukes Baseball in an epic walk-off victory. This wasn’t just any walk-off, however. Slammers plated a whopping nine runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to stun Dukes Baseball and capture a heroic 12-11 win. Long Beach Bears beat Five Star West on an adjacent field, winning 6-2 via a five-run third frame.

A pair of blowouts occurred on the other two Rangers fields. Stacked California run ruled USA Prime Mtn West 17-2 after a nine-run first and eight-run third frame that ended the bout after three innings. TB SoCal Evoshield touted Top Tier Dudes in a 12-1 victory, using a nine-run ninth inning to separate from its opponents.

Trosky National finished the day with a 15-5 victory over Quakes Baseball Academy thanks to a monstrous 10-run second inning. BPA also put on a dominant performance in its win over EJ Sports Warriors as it claimed an 11-2 win. To finish the afternoon in Surprise, GBG Navy American beat NorCal 2028 Johnson 8-3 and Pono USA AZ won in an 11-7 barnburner over Legacy Baseball Group.

Peoria, Arizona

CBA Utah and Alpha Force started their tournaments off with an exciting barnburner in Peoria, Arizona, at the Seattle Mariners’ spring training facility. CBA Utah scored in every inning and put up a five-run fifth to counter Alpha Force’s four-run fifth frame. Leading 11-4 heading into the sixth and final inning, Alpha Force made things interesting by plating five in the sixth, but CBA held on for the eventual victory.

Peoria also had its fair share of blowouts, featuring MASH Black’s 16-5 win over Juggernaut Baseball, CBA/SSC’s 14-7 win over Trosky SW Regional, and TB So Cal’s 17-7 win over GBG San Diego.

Storm Elite and Canes Arizona each put on a pair of 9-5 wins at the San Diego Padres’ spring training complex early on. Storm Elite defeated AZ Runners after getting out to a 4-0 first inning lead while Canes Arizona engineered a heroic, seven-run comeback in the top of the sixth and final inning after trailing 3-2. To wrap things up in the morning’s slate of games, So Cal Birds White beat CCB Prime 6-1 and Alpha Power beat GBG Inland Empire 6-3 via a five-run fifth frame.

Canes Inland Empire captured a 6-2 win to start the afternoon at the Mariners’ quad of fields. After trailing 2-1 heading into the final two frames, Canes Inland Empire plated five in the sixth to earn a win over Ghost National. Team Kado Hawaii White put on an impressive 10-0 shutout victory over Prime Navy while Prime Red downed City Baseball Green 9-1. To round off play at the Mariners quad, Marucci Athletics beat GBG Vegas in a close game, earning a win on day one of play with an 11-10 final result.

Swarm Red Elite National won the only close contest on the Padres’ quad in the afternoon’s slate of games in a 5-4 victory over PFA National. The rest included big-time wins with runs in the double digits, the largest of which came from Team Cal Warriors who defeated the West Coast A’s 13-4. Meanwhile, Stacked National beat MBA Green 12-2 and Bombers Baseball Club beat 310 Baseball Team 12-7.
