PHOENIX - On day one of action at the 2019 USA Baseball 16U National Team Championships in Arizona, Ignacio Alvarez and Connely have been named player and pitcher of the day, respectively, for their performances on July 1.
Alvarez played in two games today for PFA Next Level, going 5-for-7 with three singles, a double and triple. He also knocked in seven RBI, scored two runs and walked once as his squad defeated CCB Elite (12-4) and 3D Gold (6-5).
Connely of San Diego SHOW tossed a gem for his squad today, putting up a seven-inning, one-hit complete game shut out in the SHOW's 1-0 win over the West Coast Blackdogs. Connely used just 76 pitches in the outing, striking out four on the afternoon.
