Durham, N.C. - USA Baseball announced on Saturday 111 players selected for the fifth-annual 12U National Open. The National Open will take place from July 23-25 at the VTV Baseball Complex in Castaic, California, followed immediately by the 12U National Team Trials from July 26-28, where 36 athletes will be vying for their chance to make the final 18-man 12U National Team roster.
The 111 players selected for the 12U National Open were chosen from USA Baseball's Open Development Camps and will represent twenty-three different states in total. The Open Development Camps were established to provide athletes across the country with the opportunity to become involved with Team USA in a setting that provides instruction, evaluation, and fun.
From the National Open, USA Baseball will invite 15 players to the 2018 12U National Team Trials. Those players will join 21 athletes previously identified for trials, including nine from the 2018 11U Futures Invitational and 12 from the 2017 11U National Team Identification Series (NTIS).
The 12U National Team roster will be finalized on July 28 with 12U National Team Training following from August 19-22. Team USA will then play in the COPABE Pan American "A" Championships in Aguascalientes, Mexico from August 25-September 2.
