DURHAM, N.C. - USA Baseball announced on Friday eight players selected for the 12U National Team Trials from the 2017 11U Futures Invitational and 108 players chosen for the fourth-annual 12U National Open. The National Open will take place from July 16-18 at VTV Baseball in Castaic, California, followed immediately by 12U National Team Trials from July 19-21.
The eight players selected from the 11U Futures Invitational will join ten athletes previously selected for 12U Trials from the 2016 11U National Team Identification Series (NTIS) held in Cary, North Carolina.
The USA Baseball 11U Futures Invitational is an elite youth championship event, exclusively reserved for top teams and athletes. Top Tier Americans took home the gold medal from this year's Futures Invitational with an 11-1 victory over the San Diego Show. Four players from the Top Tier Americans roster have been chosen to participate in the 2017 12U National Team Trials.

The 108 players selected for the 12U National Open were chosen from USA Baseball's Open Development Camps. The Open Development Camps were established to provide athletes across the country with the opportunity to become involved with Team USA in a setting that provides instruction, evaluation and fun. From the National Open, USA Baseball will invite 18 players to join the 18 players already identified for the 12U National Team Trials.
Twenty-five different states, as well as the U.S. Virgin Islands, will be represented in the National Open.
The 12U National Team roster will be finalized on July 21 with 12U National Team Training following from July 22-24. Team USA will play in the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-12 World Cup in Tainan, Taiwan from July 28 - August 6. The U.S. is the two-time defending World Champion.
