
CARY, N.C. – After tallying multi-hit outings in all four games last week, Richmond’s Aaron Whitley has been named USA Baseball’s Golden Spikes Award Week 5 Player of the Week presented by Chinook Seedery and DI Baseball.
Whitley batted .600 on the week after helping the Spiders secure a 12-2 midweek win over Longwood and series sweep over St. Bonaventure to extend their win streak to 11 games. The Spiders outscored the Bonnies 51-18 over the three games.
After going 2-for-4 with a run scored against Longwood, Whitley proceeded to tally 10 hits and 12 RBIs in the series against St. Bonaventure. His weekend at the plate was highlighted by four-hit outings in games two and three. Five of those hits were for extra bases, as he clubbed two homers in game two and hit two doubles and a home run in the series finale.
