Mark O’Sullivan joined USA Baseball as the organization’s Scouting Coordinator in 2021 before being named Scouting Director in September 2022.

In his role, O’Sullivan is responsible for scouting and evaluating players for selection to the 12U, 15U, 18U and Collegiate National Teams. He also leads the selection process for players that will take part in USA Baseball’s development programs, including the 13U/14U Athlete Development Program and the 16U/17U National Team Development Program.

Additionally, O’Sullivan leads USA Baseball Task Force members at the National Team Championships in Arizona and North Carolina in identifying players for national teams and development programs. O’Sullivan also assists the 18U National Team staff in advance scouting during international competition, including the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup and World Cup Qualifiers.

Prior to joining USA Baseball, O’Sullivan served as an area scout for seven years with the San Francisco Giants. In that role, he covered the Northeast region for four years and the Carolinas for three years, identifying and evaluating amateur prospects for the MLB Draft. He previously had assistant coaching positions at Louisburg College (NC) and Springfield College (MA) as well as the Duluth Huskies of the Northwoods League.

O’Sullivan earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Rollins College, where he played college baseball. After graduation, he was a 25th round draft choice of the Los Angeles Angels and spent five years pitching in their minor league system. He also earned a master’s degree in sports management from Springfield College.

O’Sullivan currently resides in Durham, N.C., with his wife, Jocelyn, and son, Colin.
