CARY, N.C. – Thanks to a pair of two-homer outings and a combined 12 RBIs in its weekend series against William & Mary, Kansas State’s Maximus Martin has been named USA Baseball’s Golden Spikes Award Week 4 Player of the Week presented by Chinook Seedery and DI Baseball.

Martin compiled a .667 batting average in three games last week and helped the Wildcats earn a series sweep over the Tribe. Six of his eight hits on the weekend were for extra bases, which included five home runs, and he currently ranks third nationally this season in batting average (.524).

In the series opener, Martin homered to contribute to one of the team’s four runs scored that game. In game two, Martin got the Wildcats off to a hot start with a grand slam in the first inning and followed it up in the second with a three-run homer. His eight RBIs on the day were the most by a Kansas State player since 2018 as he led the squad to a 17-5 run-rule victory. In the series finale, Martin turned in another two-homer performance as part of his career-high 5-for-5 day at the plate. He extended his home run streak to four consecutive games and was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle in the team’s 20-6 run-rule win.
