PHOENIX - On day three of action at the 2019 USA Baseball 16U National Team Championships in Arizona, Charlie Mannon and Jose Romero have been named player and pitcher of the day, respectively, for their performances on July 3.
Romero tossed a no-hitter in his seven innings of work on the mound today for Arizona RBI 16U, striking out eight without walking a batter. He allowed one base runner on the day through a hit-by-pitch, and out of the 22 batters he faced, he threw 14 first pitch strikes. Romero was also the epitome of efficiency, using just 71 pitches - 51 of them strikes.
Mannon went a perfect 4-for-4 in West Coast Blackdogs' 6-3 victory over GBG Marucci Navy 2021/2020, knocking two singles and two doubles. He also earned two RBI and scored two runs in the win.
