After bursting onto the scene as a Freshman All-American and first-team All-WAC honoree in 2021, Jacob Wilson has raised the bar even higher in 2022. Receiving national attention as one of America’s top shortstops, Wilson is a premier contact hitter and the nation’s toughest batter to strike out at only once every 30 at bats. Wilson has added power to his game as a sophomore, racking up 11 home runs, 16 doubles and 61 RBI to go along with his elite defensive game. Wilson has assembled his impressive resume against Grand Canyon’s difficult slate of opponents which ranks as the nation’s 13th-most difficult nonconference schedule. Wilson was a unanimous National Hitter of the Week selection in late March after an 18-for-23 week at Oregon State and vs. Utah Valley. He is the everyday shortstop and anchors the No. 3 spot in the batting order for the No. 25 Lopes and the WAC’s repeat regular-season champions.
