Air Force Academy two-way threat Paul Skenes was one of the most outstanding players in the nation as a true freshman, serving as a catcher/DH, as well as the closer for the Falcons. Offensively, Skenes slashed .410/.486/.697 with 77 hits, 21 doubles, 11 home runs and 43 RBI. On the mound, the Lake Forest, Calif., native went a perfect 11-for-11 in save attempts, while recording a 30/9 K/BB ratio. He was the only D1 player in the nation to accumulate double digit saves and home runs. He finished the year ninth in the country in saves and 14th in the country in batting average.
