Charlotte's Austin Knight made the most of his first season with the 49ers racking up Conference USA's Player and Newcomer of the Year award along with being a Golden Spikes Award semifinalist in 2021. During the year, Knight led the country with 29 doubles among his 80 hits sporting a .342 batting average which helped lead Charlotte to the regular season title in Conference USA and berth into NCAA Regional play in 10 years. Knight put together three different hit streaks during the year spanning at-least 11 games and hit when it certainly counted. The third baseman hit .370 with runners on, .625 with them loaded, started an inning hitting .450, hit .380 with runners in scoring position, got them in 67% of the time with less than two outs and hit .301 with 17 two-out RBI. Knight was Mr. Reliable on offense and defense committing just five errors in 309 opportunities in the hot corner.
