Southpaw Asa Lacy is the first Aggie sophomore to record 100 strikeouts in a season since Michael Wacha in 2011. In a 1-0 win over then-No. 7 Mississippi State, he tossed the Aggies' first complete-game shutout since May 2016. Lacy earned spots on the Perfect Game Midseason All-America Second Team and Golden Spikes Award midseason watch list. The Kerrville, Texas, native has ranked in the top 10 in the nation in strikeouts, strikeouts per nine innings and hits allowed per nine innings for much of the season. Lacy was named to All-Tournament Team at the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic after holding then-No. 17 TCU to one hit while striking out nine in seven innings. He gained momentum off a summer in which he was named the Alaska Baseball League's top prospect by Baseball America and Perfect Game.
