Illinois junior Bren Spillane is one of the most feared hitters in the nation, ranking in the NCAA's top 10 in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, OPS and home runs. He crushed 22 home runs during the regular season, including 10 during 22 conference games, and batted .407 with a .512 on-base percentage. Spillane slugged .944 during the regular season, which would be the highest slugging percentage by an NCAA player since Rickie Weeks slugged .987 for Southern in 2003. He leads the Big Ten in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, OPS, home runs, RBIs and total bases.
