A semifinalist for the NCBWA's Dick Howser Trophy for the second year in a row, Jake Burger became the fifth Missouri State standout to earn MVC Player of the Year recognition. The two-time All-American leads the Valley and ranks fourth nationally with 22 home runs, combining with fellow Bear Jeremy Eierman to form the top power combination at the Division I level this season (41 homers) while leading the Bears to an MVC regular-season title and top-20 national ranking. Burger also paces the circuit in on-base percentage, runs scored and RBIs, while ranking among the nation's top 15 hitters in slugging, as well.
