University of Iowa junior first baseman Jake Adams nearly pulled off a Big Ten triple crown in 2017. The unanimous Big Ten Player of the Year led the conference in home runs (24) and RBIs (65), while ranking fourth in batting average (.344). The South Dakota native was also tops in the Big Ten in hits (73), total bases (159) and slugging percentage (.750). His 24 home runs broke an Iowa record that stood since 1986, were second nationally in the regular season, and were the most home runs by a Big Ten player since 2010. He hit eight home runs in a seven-game stretch to close out the regular season.
