In 2012, Daniel Kassouf belted a school record 17 home runs and was named First Team All-Southern Conference. Kassouf finished the year seventh in the conference in batting average (.344), second in home runs and tied for the lead for RBIs (58). He helped lead Appalachian State to its first conference championship since 1987, and to a national ranking on five occasions this year. On Feb. 25, Kassouf hit a solo home run that accounted for the only Appalachian State run in a 1-0 win over LSU. His school-record-tying home run was a walk-off in the bottom of the ninth inning to beat UNC-Greensboro, 5-4.
